Construction work Komperdellbahn

The summer of 2023 will be marked by the construction of the "new" Komperdellbahn cable car. With completion scheduled for December 2023, all construction works will be necessary during the summer months, which means that the "old" Komperdellbahn cable car will no longer be in operation.

In order to offer you a relaxing holiday in spite of the building works, we have summarised the most important hiking tips in this guide. For each destination, both the direct and alternative route options are listed.

Operating times

In addition to the Alpkopfbahn and the Sunliner cable cars, the Königsleithe chairlift will be available as an alternative means of ascent (no descent possible!). Additionally, the operating times of the other cable cars have been partially extended:

Information

For the descent with the Alpkopfbahn cable car, we generally recommend that you board at the mid station. At the top station, there may be longer waiting times due to fully occupied gondolas.
All listed hiking trails are pram-friendly
The Alpine road from Komperdell to Serfaus is closed to hikers and bikers due to construction traffic! Alternatively, the Holzkugelweg , Six Senses or Wiesenweg trails are open.
Bikes werden mit den Bahnen transportiert (ausgenommen die Königsleithebahn).
Please note that only ascents are possible with the Königsleithebahn chairlift (no descents possible).
The hiking bus to and from Serfaus will offer additional service journeys.

The new 10-passanger Komperdell cable car

opening Winter 2023/24

Seilbahn Komperdell GmbH will invest over 50 million euros in the new Komperdellbahn cable car, which will provide a new level of passenger comfort up the Komperdell from December 2023!

Construction works on the new “Komperdellbahn" cable car has been underway since the spring of 2022, and the new cable car is scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of the 2023/24 winter season! Unlike the current course, in future the route will lead up to the Komperdell along the Mittelabfahrt slope via the new mid station.

The 10-seater gondolas have a transport capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour and impress with their modern designs and spacious interiors. In order to make it easy for children to get on and off, the lift travels very slowly in the stations; these areas are of course suitable
for prams and are barrier-free.

The new bottom station will be built a little further north into the slope; thus making the entire bottom station area much more spacious and expansive.

The top station will be integrated into the existing building on the Komperdell.

The new mid station offers several advantages: Firstly, there will be less traffic in the Gampen area, as ski school groups will be able to ski comfortably down the Mittelabfahrt slope to the mid station. Secondly, the final, steeper section of the descent can be bypassed using a downhill run from the station to the valley. Via an additional (winter) hiking trail, the Leithe Wirt Restaurant is only a few minutes' walk from the station.
